Chuy’s annual Green Chile Festival will begin Monday, Aug. 20 at the Murfreesboro restaurant, located at 801 Northwest Broad Street.

Chuy’s will be introducing a menu of seven green chile-inspired dishes during the three-week festival, including a Shrimp Tropical appetizer, Green Chile Pork Carnitas and Hatch Beef Flautas. To cool down the palate, Chuy’s will feature the new Frozen Passion Fruit Sangria and a handmade Cucumber Margarita, served on the rocks.  The popular New Mexican Martini, made with green chile infused tequila will also be featured during the festival.

“Green Chile Festival is a huge part of the culture at Chuy’s. It’s our opportunity to showcase the one-of-a-kind flavor of the green chile, and the only time of the year we introduce new menu items,” said Ted Zapp, Vice President of Operations for Chuy’s. “The Green Chile Festival offers our customers unique Chuy’s dishes made with the freshest chiles possible.”

Chuy’s will celebrate their 24th annual Green Chile Festival by announcing Super Pepper’s candidacy for President, their theme for the 2012 festival.

During the festival, guests will be treated to giveaways, such as a Super Pepper campaign bumper stickers and a commemorative button. A limited edition Green Chile Festival T-shirt willalso be available for purchase.

The roots of the Green Chile Festival can be dated back to the late 1980s when Chuy’s first brought the green chile to Central Texas. Every spring, Chuy’s contracts with farmers in the Hatch Valley of New Mexico to grow over 1 million pounds of the freshest green chiles just for their restaurants. When the green chiles reach their height of flavor in August, Chuy’s sends a team to New Mexico to bring back the finest, fresh-picked chiles for the festival.

Chuy’s Green Chile Festival will be held at the Murfreesboro location from Monday, Aug. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 9. For more information, visit www.Chuys.com or www.Facebook.com/ChuysMurfreesboro.
