Bob Horne is the new principal of Christiana Middle School, Rutherford County Schools Director Harry Gill Jr. announced Tuesday.
Horne succeeds Dr. John Ash, who was recently named principal of Central Academic Magnet School, which will open in August 2010.
“Bob has a wealth of administration experience, having been an assistant principal at both an elementary and high school,” Director Gill said. “He’s very well respected among educators. I have no doubt he will set high expectations for Christiana Middle School and will be interested in promoting community engagement.”
Horne currently serves as an assistant principal at Siegel High School, a position he has held for the past six years. He previously served as an assistant principal at Barfield Elementary and started his education career as the band director at Oakland High School. He has been an educator for 11 years.
“I want to thank Mr. Gill for his faith in me and for the opportunity to lead Christiana Middle School,” Horne said. “My immediate plan is to meet with as many teachers, support staff, parents and community members as possible to learn all I can about Christiana Middle. Dr. Ash has put together a high performing school, and together with all the stakeholders, we’re going to plan a pathway for Christiana’s future.”
Horne will transition to his new duties during the summer. A search for a new assistant principal at Siegel High School will begin immediately.

Congratulations to Mr. Bob Horne!!! He is quite deserving. We were fortunate to have him as my son's assistant principal at Barfield. Again, congratulations on your well-earned promotion.
