Sexual battery indictments were served last week on a man accused of fondling a 13-year-old girl in 2005, a Rutherford County Sheriff’s detective said Monday.

Suspect Timothy N. Tyson, 49, of 323 McKaig Road near Christiana, was charged with three counts of sexual battery, said Detective Steve Craig. He was accused of kissing and fondling the girl on three occasions, the detective said. The alleged crime was disclosed earlier this year.

Patrol Deputies Matt Clagg and Dennis Ward responded a call about the accusations and talked to Tyson, who gave a statement. The information was presented to the grand jury whose members issued the indictment.

Tyson was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and released on $7,500 bond. A hearing is set June 10 in General Sessions Court. He is unemployed.
