Barnes & Noble at The Avenue Murfreesboro holds The Elf on the Shelf Storytime and Adopt-an-Elf event Saturday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. in the Children’s Department.

The event will kick off with a reading of “The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition.”

The story, written by Carol Aebersold and Chanda Bell, reveals how Santa Claus knows whom to place on the Naughty and Nice lists. As detailed in the picture book, the watchful elves report back to the North Pole every evening, filling Santa in on which children have been naughty or nice.

Each copy of “The Elf on the Shelf” picture book comes with its very own elf.

Barnes & Noble is located at 2615 Medical Center Parkway in Murfreesboro.

The Elf on a Shelf Storytime and Adopt-an-Elf event is free and open to the public.

Children adopting an elf may register their elf on www.elfontheshelf.com, where they will find other fun-filled activities in celebration of the holiday season.
