It was a bad weekend for pedestrians in Rutherford County.

First a small child was accidentally struck Sunday afternoon by a car in the driveway of a Murfreesboro home.

Stephen Watkins, 27, allegedly backed over a child from a neighboring home after the child wandered into the driveway on Mayfair Drive and behind the car.

The child, Pedro Flores, was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center where Flores is now listed in critical condition but stable condition. The Highway Patrol is investigating the case.

Then a pedestrian was struck Monday morning by a vehicle in front of the Hardee’s on Memorial Boulevard.

Reports indicate the victim was not seriously injured.
