A 3-year-old La Vergne girl remains in critical but stable condition Monday after a near drowning Sunday in a Wenlon Drive swimming pool, authorities reported.
The girl and her parents attended a pool party at Raiders Ridge pool Sunday afternoon, said Murfreesboro Police spokesman Kyle Evans. When the family got ready to leave, the 3-year-old wasn’t with them. They found her in the pool.
Officer Skye Wortman reported she observed the father holding his daughter’s hand.
Wortman began cardiopulmonary resuscitation until Murfreesboro firefighters Carl Diagle, Kenny McFarland and Alan Farrar, who are first responders, took over. They continued CPR until paramedics began treating the child. Diagle drove the ambulance while paramedics and McFarland and Farrar worked on the patient.
She was taken to Middle Tennessee Medical Center before being transferred to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
Hospital spokeswoman Ashley Culver said the girl was listed in critical but stable condition.
Evans said the case remains under investigation by Murfreesboro Police.
