|Charlie Mack Jones, age 83, of the Crescent Community died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home. Mr. Jones was a native of the Crescent Community and was the son of the late Mack and Martha Tomlinson Jones. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Hargis-Sands and a grandson, Jeremy Jones.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Brother Paul Norwood and Brother Darryl Lewis will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife Betty Hurst Jones; sons, Jerry Jones and his wife Joyce of Eagleville, Terry Jones and his wife Peggy of Murfreesboro and Kyle Jones and his wife Gayla of Christiana; daughter, Gail Norwood and her husband Paul of Lascassas; stepchildren, Michael Parker and his wife Angela of Ridgely, TN and Sheila Moore and her husband Tom of Memphis; brothers, John Hodge Jones and his wife Elaine; Wendell Jones and his wife Karen; and a sister Gertrude Frost and her husband Carroll all of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Lee Jones and his wife Samantha; Mac Jones and his wife Erika; Paul Jones and his wife Becky; Melissa Story; Christy Rowe and her husband W.T, Misty Pomplun and her husband Tim, Tiffany Phillips and her husband Edward, Dylan Parker, Matthew Norwood and wife Roxy, Micah Norwood and his wife Stephanie; and 14 great grandchildren.
Mr. Jones was a former member of Crescent Church of Christ and was presently a member of New Zion Church of Christ. He was a 1947 graduate of Rockvale High School and attended David Lipscomb College. He was an active community supporter and was instrumental in developing a baseball field in the Crescent Community and at Middle TN Christian School, as well as road improvements in Rutherford County. Mr. Jones was a former Rutherford County Commissioner, a former board member of Middle TN Christian School, and the Rutherford County Co-Op. He was known in his community as the “fix it” man often helping neighbors with mechanical problems around their home and farms for no more than a thank you. He was a true friend.
Memorials may be made to the New Zion Church of Christ Building Fund in memory of Mr. Jones.
Grandsons and Benny will serve as pallbearers.
