Charles Kenneth Gortney, age 54, of Smyrna, passed away on March 16, 2010 at Stone Crest Medical Center. He was a native and life-long resident of Rutherford County. He was a member of the Baptist Church and an installer at 31W Insulation.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, RL Gortney and Lucinda Harris Gortney Brown. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Parks Gortney; son, Kenneth Thomas Gortney of Murfreesboro; step-son, Joshua Brewer of Smyrna; daughter, Shelly Leeann Gortney of Murfreesboro; sister, Dorothy Ann Fladung of Murfreesboro; two grandsons, Peyton Thomas Gortney and Teagan Brewer and one granddaughter, Paige Lowman.
Chapel service for Kenneth will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Mike Parks officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
