Charges are pending against a husband accused of threatening to kill his wife during an argument about 3:30 a.m. Monday at their home, a sheriff’s deputy reported.

Wife Maria Revell was inside her vehicle and her husband was standing outside in the yard with a rifle when sheriff’s deputies arrived, Deputy Michael Parsons reported. She told deputies her husband was a former law enforcement officer and planned to make deputies shoot him.

The Revells apparently argued about a counseling sessions they attended the previous day. Maria Revell told deputies her husband displayed rage and retrieved a rifle he kept under the bed. She grabbed her keys. As she left, she reported he yelled if she called police, he would make them shoot him.

Sgt. Bill Dunn saw the husband lower the tailgate of a pickup truck in his driveway and sat down. Over the intercom, Dunn commanded the husband to slowly approach the patrol car, Parsons reported. The husband walked to the car where Parsons and Deputy Caleb Roney took him into custody.

He denied having a firearm and accused his wife of placing a handgun into his chest during the argument, Parsons reported. After telling deputies he experienced chest pains, he was taken to Middle Tennessee Medical Center where he was admitted.

Parsons returned to the home where he seized two rifles, two shotguns and a handgun for safekeeping. The deputy obtained an aggravated domestic assault against the husband, which will be served after his hospital release.

In an unrelated domestic case, Murfreesboro Police Officer Dave Norton obtained an arrest warrant against a man accused of strangling his girlfriend Monday at his home.

A witness told police the boyfriend attacked Virginia Jean Lynch, 26, of Shelbyville on North Academy Street.

“She was crying and very upset,” Norton said.

Her left side of her face was swollen and she had red marks. Lynch told officers her boyfriend accused her of smoking crack cocaine and having sex with someone else but she reminded him she just got off work.

She accused her boyfriend of punching her face and knocking her down and strangling her for a few seconds before stopping.

“At one point, she could not breathe and fought him off before she passed out,” Norton reported.

She accused her ex-husband of taking her money, cell phone and keys, the officer reported. When he spotted police, the man asked for a hug before fleeing.

Warrants are pending for assault and robbery.

It's all news, both good and bad. The media has too much censorship as it is. They try to make the news, instead of just reporting it.

Some of us are more concerned about what's going on in our city rather than just reading "nice stories." Sorry, Macgyver, but stories like this one affect all of us.
