Three burglars tied up a man with his dog’s leash and pointed a gun to his head before trying to rob him of his property Wednesday afternoon at Chelsea Place apartments, Murfreesboro Police reported.
Victim James K. Gronskei of Bradyville Pike was robbed of his cell phone about 4 p.m., Officer Jacob Lamb reported.
When police arrived, the suspects jumped off the balcony.
Police spokesman Kyle Evans said K-9 Officer Trey Mansfield tried to track the suspects after officers set up a perimeter.
Officer Sean Garrison reported he responded to Family Dollar on Mercury Boulevard where one of three suspects went into the bathroom before stealing a green shirt, bought a candy bar and left the store.
Officer Reco Hathaway apprehended the suspect near Peebles. A red shirt he apparently abandoned was found on the sidewalk between Family Dollar and Rent-A-Center.
Charges are pending.
In an unrelated case, Officer Erica Brinkley reported victim Anthony Cuzzone of Wenlon Drive was lying in bed when he heard taps about 7 p.m. Wednesday on his front door. Because he didn’t expect any company, he didn’t answer the door.
He heard knocking on the side door and notified his roommate Shawn Mitchell. They went into the living room to call police. While on the phone with dispatchers, they heard the glass breaking from Cuzzone’s bedroom window.
When Mitchell yelled, “Police are on the way,” the suspects fled.
Detectives are investigating. People who have information may call the Criminal Investigations Division at 893-STOP.
