Vice President of Economic Development Holly E. Sears announced her resignation Wednesday to the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
“To say Holly will be missed is an understatement,” said Paul Latture, president of the Chamber of Commerce. “Her wealth of knowledge, leadership and work ethic have everything to do with Rutherford County being ranked nationally in the top five for job growth five times during her time here.”
In her seven-year tenure, Sears has had a hand in helping the economic development landscape of Rutherford County by successfully coordinating company relocation and expansion projects.
Companies she’s helped recruit to Rutherford County include Amazon, Saks Fifth Avenue, Interstate Warehouse, NHK, Franke USA and MEIKO.
Existing companies that she’s assisted in expansion efforts include Nissan North America, Taylor Farms, General Mills and Asurion.
In addition, she had a leadership role in the development of the Murfreesboro Gateway project, including The Avenue and Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center, Smyrna Airport, Joe B. Jackson Parkway in Murfreesboro, and Colonial Town Center in Smyrna.
Sears, who recently became engaged, will be relocating to Washington, D.C., area. She will lead the Montgomery County Business Development Corporation in Maryland as president.
Her last day at the chamber will be Friday, Nov. 16. Plans will be underway immediately to find her replacement.
The Chamber of Commerce seeks to promote economic development and a quality of life to benefit all residents of Rutherford County.
Programs, events and services are offered to both members and non-members. The chamber operates out of a main office on Medical Center Parkway in Murfreesboro, and branch offices in Smyrna, La Vergne and Eagleville.
