The Center For The Arts presents an exhibit of collaborative works by Jarrod Houghton and Sisavanh Phouthavong-Houghton.

“Back To Back” features a series of sculptures and mixed media paintings that manifest the intuitive play embodying a multitude of forms and textures through the use of classical techniques and materials such as bronze, iron and encaustic.

The intent of the work is to present the viewer with evocative juxtapositions and to reveal our shared experiences of human anxiety, phobia, taboo and dreams.

Jarrod and Houghton both hold a Master’s of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University and are professors at Middle Tennessee University teaching a variety of classes in Fine Art including Design, Sculpture and Advanced Painting.

An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 in the gallery. The event is free and open to the public.

Works are available for purchase and will be on display for the month of October. Sisavanh Phouthavong-Houghton is represented by Tinney Contemporary Gallery on 5th Avenue in Nashville, TN.

The Center for the Arts is located at 110 W. College St. in Murfreesboro. For more information, call 615-904-2787.
