Celebration to raise funds for Project Reach Out

Reach out and help the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring at the Kids First Celebration that will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29.

This palette pleasing event supports Discovery Center’s community outreach initiative, Project Reach Out.

The evening will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres catered by Carrabba’s Italian Grill and a short program. Goodwill donations will be accepted at the event with proceeds benefiting the Project Reach Out fund.

The Discovery Center has served thousands of kids since a grass-roots effort of young parents created the hands-on museum more than 25 years ago in downtown Murfreesboro.

As part of those efforts, the Project Reach Out fund increases accessibility to the diverse exhibits and programs offered to engages families in exploring and appreciating the diverse cultures of the community. It incorporates annual free days, scholarships for school children on free and reduced lunch, and memberships at no cost for underserved families.

In 2011, more than 15,000 children and families utilized the Project Reach Out fund.

The Discovery Center is located at 502 SE Broad St. in Murfreesboro.
