Catherine P. Coaker

Catherine Pennington Coaker, age 88, passed away Saturday, Aug.25, 2012, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.

Catherine was a native of Williamsport, Tenn., and a member of the Greenvale Baptist Church. She earned her bachelor and masters degrees from George Peabody College for Teachers. She retired from the Nashville Metro School System.  
 
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Amnah Brown and Annie Arsenal Rosen Pennington.

She is survived by daughters Carol C. Brewer of Nashville, Jo Ann (Mark) Littlejohn of Nashville, and Kay Vickers of Nashville. She is also survived by brother A.B. Pennington Jr. and sisters Ann Bell, Martha Gidcomb, and Carolyn Gardner, as well as three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
 
A chapel service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Rev. Charlie Pollard and Rev. Mike Pennington officiating. Burial will follow at Bradley’s Creek Cemetery with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
 
Visitation with the family will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home, located at 820 South Church St. in Murfreesboro.
