Capt. Leland Harvey Goodwin, age 71, of Beech Grove, passed away on March 8, 2013 at Alvin C. York Medical Center.

He was a native of Los Angeles. Leland served in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Harvey Goodwin and Ruth Frances Corson Goodwin. He is survived by his first son, Arion Jay H. Goodwin (Bethany Grace) of California, Justin (Kimberly) Weller of Murfreesboro and Christopher Goodwin of Florida; daughter, Cheryl Beth Goodwin of Washington; brothers, Jim (Sharon) Goodwin and Martin (Chris) Goodwin all of California; and grandchildren, Vanessa, Aleyna, Alexis and Hailey. Leland is also survived by his beloved, Martha Elizabeth Taylor.

Chapel service with military honors will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with son, Jay Goodwin officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram, TN with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
