As a guest speaker during Middle Tennessee State University’s Global Entrepreneurship Week, Rich Miles will present “Ego and Pride: Driving Success & Failure” on Friday, November 20 at 3:30 p.m. in the State Farm Lecture Hall of MTSU’s Business and Aerospace Building.
Miles describes the ideal CEO as someone who can “wear worn-out jeans and hunting boots in the morning, then put on a tuxedo at night – and be equally comfortable in either situation”. His presentation will provide lessons drawn from his experiences on how ego and personal pride can drive entrepreneurs to riches – or to ruin. Following the initial presentation, he will share discussion time with attendees.
In a career spanning nearly 30 years, Miles began his professional life as an auditor, quickly rising to serve in the capacities of CFO, COO, and CEO, of both privately held and publicly traded companies. During his career, Miles has successfully led liquidations, startups, and massive cash flow turnarounds, and has guided the mergers and acquisitions of companies with revenues as great as $450 million. He has also acted as an independent mergers and acquisitions specialist for middle-market companies. Miles is a founder and Managing Member of CAPSTONE Business Advisors, LLC.
