Candidates qualify for state seats

Thursday was the last day for hopefuls to qualify for state and local races in August.

There were few surprises on the state side, other than Rep. Donna Rowland announcing Thursday morning she will not run for re-election to her 34th District State House of Representatives seat.

All other Rutherford County incumbents threw their respective hats in the ring.

The candidates will face off as follows in the August State Primary:

Please vote these peoples politics and not their party. Investigate and ask the questions. Just because you have heard their name or heard they do a good job doesn't mean they do. Look at their voting record on bills and make an educated decision.
