| In recognition of September as national Suicide Prevention Month, the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Rutherford County (CADCOR) will hold a special coalition meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16 at Patterson Park Community Center.
Everyone from the community is invited to attend this informative meeting to learn more about the signs, symptoms and resources available to help individuals, especial our youth, for suicide prevention and awareness.
The meeting will consist of a special video presentation of “Eternal High” produced by Bryce Mackie, a 17-year-old filmmaker who captured his true-life battle with depression and suicide in this 25-minute award winning short film.
At the time the film was made, Bryce was unaware he was suffering from depression.
The awareness produced by his short film enabled him to seek and receive help and in turn become an advocate for teens to raise awareness for the need to support the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of depression for the prevention of teen suicide.
A panel discussion, moderated by Kim Rush, Guidance Center Director, will follow the video presentation.
The panel will feature knowledgeable professionals to discuss the impact of youth suicide; including identifying signs, symptoms and resources for help.
The Community Anti-Drug Coalition of Rutherford County is a community based organization that meets monthly to bring people and organizations together to create a healthy environment and improve the quality of life for our citizens by reducing substance abuse, crime and violence.
