After 72 years in business, Murfreesboro-based Roscoe Brown continues expanding its business – this time to include a plumbing division.

“Our longtime customers have been asking us for some time to expand our home comfort, service and repair work to include plumbing,” said Norman Brown, president of Roscoe Brown Inc. “This line of business is a natural next step in providing whole-house and whole-structure comfort and service. We have been working for the past few months to lay the groundwork to provide complete service and repair for commercial and residential plumbing.”

Brown announced the new division will be managed by new employee Bobby Patterson, a 25-year veteran plumber.

Patterson is a state-licensed master plumber and mechanical contractor. Originally from Louisiana where he worked alongside his father, Patterson has lived and worked in Tennessee for the past 24 years.

“I know how to build a solid plumbing business based on excellent quality and service, because I’ve already done it once in my career,” Patterson said.

Services will include plumbing service repair and maintenance for both residential and commercial segments of the marketplace. The division will offer maintenance agreements for both residential and commercial customers as well.

“We will be able to do high pressure jet cleaning and sewer line camera inspections of sewer lines from the very beginning,” Patterson said.

The company also will maintain residential and commercial water heaters, clear drains, and provide grease trap pumping for commercial customers, Patterson said.

Local insurance firms merge

Farmer Brothers Insurance and Murfreesboro Insurance Agency have merged to become Claiborne and Taylor Insurance, making it of the areas largest, independent and locally owned agencies.

According to a press release, Claiborne and Taylor will hold an open house and Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting Friday, Oct. 12, beginning at 11 a.m. at the 319 West McKnight Drive offices, just behind Tire World on Memorial Boulevard.

The public is welcome as refreshments will be served and a door prize will be given away to registrants.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better business partner than Gary Taylor. He built Murfreesboro Insurance Agency from the ground up and will bring a level of expertise and experience to this partnership not often seen in the business world today,” Doron Claiborne said. “We’re very excited about the Open House and Ribbon Cutting because it gives us an opportunity to thank a lot of folks and shake a lot hands.”

With more than 60-plus years of combined auto, home, health, and commercial insurance experience, Claiborne and Taylor will provide their local customers with familiar faces, top-tier insurance options and customer service. Claiborne and Taylor represent providers such as The Hartford, Travelers, Frankenmuth, Grange, Columbia, Montgomery, Safeco and Auto-Owners Insurance companies.

“Our team at Murfreesboro Insurance Agency is very excited about partnering with Farmer Brothers because their reputation is stellar and we believe it will be a great fit for all involved — especially our clients. With more options and more customer service, it’s a win-win for everyone," Gary Taylor said.
