Two burglary suspects are facing multiple charges after leading authorities on a high-speed chase that ended in a head-on collision Wednesday on John Rice Boulevard.
Murfreesboro resident Jeremy Marable, 19, of Woodlands Apartments has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated burglary, felony evading arrest, and theft.
His 20-year-old brother, Julius Marable, has been charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, evading arrest and theft.
The chase occurred after a frightened Rutherford County woman crouched in a closet and dialed 9-1-1 when she heard two men breaking into her home before noon on Asbury Lane, said Lisa Marchesoni, public information officer for the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
She said a burglar alarm scared the two suspects out of the home. As they were backing out of the driveway, Deputy James Davis arrived and turned on his blue lights and siren to stop the suspects.
Jeremy Marable, who was driving at the time of the incident, allegedly ignored Davis, who then gave pursuit with Deputy Will Lehew.
Davis said deputies pursued the brothers from Asbury Lane to Medical Center Parkway and John Rice Boulevard where the suspects struck one car. Jeremy Marable then drove back onto John Rice Boulevard and struck a second driver head-on at the Gresham Lane intersection, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The driver was treated at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating both crashes.
At the crash scene, both brothers fled. Davis nabbed Julius Marable while Cpl. David Foote captured Jeremy Marable about 1 mile away, Marchesoni said.
She said both suspects were charged with a second count of aggravated burglary because Detective Richard Brinkley linked them to another burglary nearby on Holiday Court, after finding a card with one of the homeowner’s name on it. Most of the property stolen from the Holiday Court home was later returned to homeowners.
Both men are being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 17 in General Sessions Court. |
