Burglars escape with cash, jewelry, firearms

About $38,000 worth of expensive jewelry, firearms and property were stolen in a home burglary while the family spent the weekend at Fate Sanders Marina, a sheriff’s corporal reported Monday.

Burglars stole the property while owner Andrew B. Johnson and his wife were at the marina, Cpl. Brian Wright reported.

Items taken included $12,000 cash, two-karat diamond earrings, a 14-karat gold diamond tennis bracelet, a three-stone diamond engagement ring, three shotguns, a .380-caliber handgun and golf clubs.

Burglars ransacked their home while stealing property.

Detective Ralph Mayercik is investigating.

In another jewelry burglary, Cpl. Ryan Huggins reported someone removed about $3,700 worth of jewelry from Charlotte Bullington’s home Monday on Fann Road.

Property missing included a white gold diamond solitaire ring, a diamond ring, gold coin necklace with a diamond, gold necklace with six children’s pendants and an amethyst ring.

Loss amounted to $3,700.
