Burglars caught stealing food from home

Murfreesboro Police interrupted two burglars Friday afternoon, July 15 after they were found in a home at the corner of Medical Center Parkway and Murfree Avenue.

Martavious Williams, 18, of Murfree Avenue, and Deviyon D. Smith, 19, of Flat Rock Road, were arrested for aggravate burglary and evading arrest.

The pair were caught after MPD officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress around 12:30 p.m. Officers set up around the house and saw the suspects in the house.

MPD Sgt. Kevin Dunn ordered the burglars out of the house.

Williams made his exit and fled on foot, MPD Officer Mona Thomas reported. Dunn and MPD Officer Angelo Medina chased Williams and arrested him near Grantland Drive.

Smith eventually come out of the house and was arrested by Thomas and Officer David Spell.

Williams and Smith were arrested with several items from the house allegedly in their possession, including sports trading cards, bottles of liquor, a bag of frozen strawberries, a bag of frozen mixed fruit and a bag of frozen chicken.

The suspects were then taken to MPD for further questioning and booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

No bond or court date has been set yet.
