Malcolm A. Gooch
Sheriff’s deputies nabbed two burglary suspects and recovered about $5,000 worth of stolen property during a traffic stop early Monday on River Downs Boulevard, an officer reported.

Suspect Malcolm A. Gooch, 18, of 215 Kerr Ave. and a 14-year-old Murfreesboro boy were charged with two counts of burglary and theft by Deputy Will Lehew. Two other suspects fled.

Lehew responded to George Zimmerman’s home about 2:30 a.m. Monday on Oscar Court where a home alarm system awakened Zimmerman and his wife. Burglars broke into the back door of the home.

After Lehew responded, Deputy Nick Carter noticed a suspicious vehicle traveling on River Downs Road. The occupants stopped the car and ran. Carter apprehended Gooch and the boy. Sgt. Lee Young responded with his K-9 but couldn’t locate the other two suspects.

Inside the vehicle, deputies recovered property believed stolen from a home on Sneed Drive. Items included a laptop computer and accessories. Deputies Jonathon Stephens and Mark Gregory responded to the home where they found someone kicked in the door. The resident was not home at the time of the burglary.

Detective Ralph Mayercik interviewed the suspects who were later charged. Gooch was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and the juvenile was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center. Gooch is free on bond. Hearings were set June 6 in General Sessions and Juvenile courts.

Please just shoot them next time when they run. Has an effect of stopping that group from stealing again. Remember the picture as you will probably see him again in less than 6 months, when he is released again and he breaks into your house.

Too lazy to work and too stupid to steal....Just saying

Too bad the home owner could'nt pump a few dozen rounds into thier lazy, stupid, criminal carcasses. These young blacks are murderous and can only be dealt with, with weapons.

I have a novel idea. Let's make jail a place thse mopes want no part of. How about we morph jail into an unpleasant place that is tightly regimented and highly restrictive. No TV, no radio, no comic books, etc. Oh and if we are going to have time off for "good" behavior, we also add time on for bad behavior. Jail should be a place no one ever wants to return to. That said, you can probably bet the farm these not so bright criminals will be back for bigger and better things in the future!

In Fl there was a sheriff who feed inmates bologna and cheese sandwiches an orange, and carton of milk turned off the air conditioning. It was terribly uncomfortable for the inmates and guards. There were those cried foul that it was horrible inhumane treatment( I personally like bologna and oranges) But the key to it all was that it did not reduced recidivism. they had the same amount of criminals return to prison for crimes they committed. So by itself it did not work.
