The next three minutes it was all Bulldogs as they crafted a 10-point lead. Free throws maintained or extended the lead in the fourth quarter.
Oakland had 26 rebounds but 15 turnovers and was led by Emmanuel Smith with 14 and Brady Laws with nine points. The Pats closed out their season at 10-20.
Smyrna had 19 rebounds and only eight turnovers. The leading scorers were Brandon Hathaway with 14 points and P.J. Whitaker with 13. Smyrna, now 17-13, will play Blackman (20-3) at 4:30 Saturday evening at Oakland.
In the second game of the evening Coach Kevin Woodson kept his makeshift lineup close as Riverdale only trailed heavily favored La Vergne 25-20 at halftime.
An upset wasn’t to be, however, as the Wolverines prevailed 55-39.
Riverdale closed out its season at 12-16 while LaVergne, now 16-11, will take on the Siegel (17-9) boys, at 7:30 Saturday nght at Oakland.
The Middle Tennessee Christian School Boys defeated the Forrest Rockets in overtime in the finals of the 9A Tournament.
Congrats Cougars on a hard-earned championship and getting the No. 1 Region seed.
