In celebration of Christiana Elementary School’s $4.25 million expansion, the Parent-Teacher Organization is holding a Back To School Brick Bash from 5-8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23 at the newly renovated school.
When the addition is complete, Christiana will have a 14-classroom addition that will open in December for second semester.
The school is also renovated and expanding its office area, library, cafeteria and the stage, that will be completed by the time school opens Aug. 8. Guided tours of the completed areas will be available during Brick Bash.
“We are very excited about the new construction and wish to share the wonderful changes with our entire community, as well as the opportunity for everyone to be involved and make a place for themselves or a loved one on the grounds of the school,” said Jennifer Gran, CES PTO co-chairwoman.
The PTO will sell Celebration Bricks to commemorate the expansion, targeting anyone who has ever attended or taught at the school since it opened in the 1960s.
The bricks will be used to make planters, sidewalks and to create green spaces on the school’s campus.
Funds from Celebration Brick sales will be used to buy resources for the school.
The free and open event also offers food and drink vendors, health care professionals, K-9 police officers, inflatables and more.
