When Bradley Academy students return to school Wednesday, students won’t have to worry too much about fashion since a new school uniform policy will be implemented.

Similar to the one implemented by Mitchell-Nielson last year, Bradley joins a growing list of Murfreesboro City schools to employ a strict dress code for students.

Students must wear solid-color polo shirts with long or short sleeves. T-shirts are allowed as long as they are Bradley Academy shirts ordered through the school.

Shirts must be tucked in and be an appropriate size.

Sweaters and sweatshirts are allowed under the new policy, but must be a solid color and worn over a collared shirt. The collar of the shirt underneath must be visible.

Solid colored short- or long-sleeve T-shirts or turtlenecks may be worn underneath collared shirts for warmth.

Students are required to wear solid-color slacks in navy blue, black or khaki/tan with a belt if the pants have belt loops. Kindergarteners are exempt from wearing a belt.

Girls can wear knee socks and leggings for warmth with skirts and not as pants. They must be a solid color similar to the student’s shirt or skirt. Skirts cannot be shorter than the student’s fingertips when arms are at rest down the side of her body.

Students cannot wear hooded sweatshirts, coats or jackets inside the building. Pants with cargo pockets are not permitted.

Tennis shoes or loafers may be worn at school and students are encouraged to wear socks. Flip-flops or Crocs are banned under the new school uniform policy.

Bandanas, scarves, sweatbands, caps or hairnets may not be worn during school times or at school functions.

Oversized belt buckles or oversized jewelry are also banned.
