A boyfriend accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend Tuesday was charged with murder, a Rutherford County Sheriff's detective said Wednesday.

Victim Carly Hassett, 29, of Millersburg Road in Bell Buckle was pronounced dead at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, said lead Detective Steve Craig.

Jared Partin, 32, of Millersburg Road was charged with first-degree murder, the detective said.

"There had been domestic issues for years, leading to severe arguments during the last two days that resulted in the death of Carly Hassett," Craig said. "The homicide took place within the residence."

A team of detectives joined Craig during the initial investigation.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances of Hassett's murder, he said. Anyone with pertinent information about the murder is asked to contact Craig at 615-904-3071.

Partin is being held without bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. A hearing is set March 23 in General Sessions Court.

Rutherford County Sheriff's Office provided this report.
