Boyfriend accused of choking girlfriend

TMP Reports

Charges may be pending against a boyfriend accused of slapping his girlfriend so hard she fell to the floor Thursday at her apartment, a Murfreesboro Police officer reported.

The victim, 18, of South Rutherford Boulevard, reported her boyfriend broke her dresser, threw her clothes into a pile and cursed her, Officer Terry Spence reported.

“He came back into the living room, grabbed her by the back of her hair and slammed her head into a 2-foot by 2-foot picture frame and broke out the glass plate, broke the wooden frame and damaged her grandmother’s pictures,” Spence reported.

When she threatened to call police, he told her conditions would worsen. He choked her against the wall, called her names and told her he hoped she would die. He spit in her face and threw a bottle of orange juice at her.

He retrieved his guitar and amp before leaving.

Police collected evidence and photographed the damage in her apartment. Officers advised her about seeking shelter elsewhere but she said she felt safe.

“(The victim) stated she would think about getting an warrant (but) she did love him,” Spence reported.

Domestic violence detectives were expected to talk with the victim about her options.
