The Tennessee Technology Center at Murfreesboro recently had four students competing in the Post Secondary SkillsUSA competition in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
All students representing TTC Murfreesboro placed in their chosen fields: Krista Smith won a Silver Medal for Architectural Drafting Johnathan Smith won a Bronze Medal for Precision Machining Matthew Parker won a Silver Medal for Computer Maintenance Kurtis Garabedian designed the State SkillsUSA pin Kandy White and Mike Schoen are the local advisors for the organization.
SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health care. It was formerly known as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America).
The mission of the Tennessee Technology Center at Murfreesboro is to be the Center for workforce development by providing the best in technical education through traditional and distance instructional delivery systems to the community for professional and personal advancement.
The Technology Center at Murfreesboro is part of the Tennessee Board of Regents. Tennessee Board of Regents is the nation’s sixth largest higher education system, governing 45 post-secondary educational institutions. The TBR system includes six universities, 13 two-year colleges and 26 technology centers, providing programs in 90 of Tennessee’s 95 counties to more than 180,000 students. |
