Murfreesboro planners will review initial design plans for a 318-unit apartment complex along Beesley Road near the under construction state Route 840 interchange at its regular meeting Wednesday.

Westlawn Apartments will be located along the future Veterans Parkway. The developer is WP East Development Enterprises LLC.

The Murfreesboro Planning Commission meets July 16 at 11 a.m. in room 218 of City Hall at 111 W. Vine St., one block off the Public Square.

Planners also will review initial design plans for 27,627 square feet of retail space in phase two of The Oaks Shopping Center located at the corner of Medical Center Parkway and Thompson Lane.

Plans were originally approved in 2006, but approval has since lapsed.

Parkes Group, the developer, has proposed some modifications to the buildings.

ParkTrust has requested an amendment to its planned unit development called Hillwood located along Franklin Road.

The 101.7-acre property was annexed in 2007 and was zoned PUD in early 2008.

The developer wants to amend plans for the development by adding an automobile wash as a permitted use. The anticipated tenant is Super Speed Wash.

This request will likely be scheduled for a public hearing.

Hillwood is expected to be made up of additional retail fronting Franklin Road near Franklin Road Baptist Church.

Approximately 219 single-family homes, 145 townhouses and a 354-unit apartment complex are included in approved plans for the development.

Why do we need more apartments in this area? Blackman schools are already overcrowded, yet these developments keep getting approved. STOP THE MADNESS!
