"Murfreesboro may officially prove to national retailers and companies that the city isn’t a bedroom community of Nashville with its latest population figures, area commercial brokers said."
These people aren't looking at the traffic leaving the Boro in the morning and coming back in the PM. Those are not local jobs.

Area commercial brokers are idiots!! A city's population is not what determines whether it's a bedroom community or not.
"The economic base of a typical bedroom community is housing sales and general retail sales, not heavy industry or technology."
What is a Bedroom Community? Taken from the 'WiseGEEK' http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-bedroom-community.htm
Did you note that? To not qualify as a bedroom community you need to have 'heavy industry' or 'technology'.
Murfreesboro has neither. So your still a bedroom community, albeit one of 100,575 residents.
If or when corporations move here, then one might consider getting rid of the 'bedroom community' tag.
Until then, your wish to not be considered one is just that, a wish.
It's just too bad we don't have the qualified leadership for a city this large as evidenced by the asinine comments in this article.
