$10.42 for debt services. Where is our (so called) leadership. Now, let us see another breakdown, as to what we owe for?

Folks may also want to look at various fees collected by Murfreesboro. If you call them "fees" then they are not "taxes". How about Water and sewer, cable fees, natural gas fees....

I have to agree with Bluesman. How about an itemized "Bill" so everyone knows where the "debt" services dollars are going? Maybe we can start saving in some places, like fewer administrators!

We pay more for trash service than we do on our schools?
Mr. Lyons considers this an "excellent value"?

It would be nice to have the option to pay for trash service in this city. I'm an avid recycler and MIGHT take my city can to the curb once every 6 weeks.

I agree with bluesman that we need an itemized list.

How is it possible that we pay more for trash service than schools? The Board of Education is huge compared to the solid waste department.
What gives?

Could you imagine what could be done with that $10.42 "debt service" if our city lived on less than it made like most of the rest of us do??? Think about it... we pay 5 times more for debt service than we do for schools, we could double our police force, triple the size of the fire department, or quadruple the amenities in our parks! I wonder what an itemized "bill" looks like for a country trillions of dollars in debt...

archosignis;
I like your way of thinking!!! In all seriousness folks politics has become over many years of lies and deceit. Am I saying that we should overthrow or get rid of or government, by no means. However, I feel that we need to have a way to remove these villains and criminals from office should they not be doign their jobs. By doing their jobs (which are public service last time I checked) is to serve the people in the interest of the people and the laws of the lands, not whatever your fancy is. Government for the last 20 years has been about spending frivolously without accountability and a slight of hand to throw the public off their putrid stench. Wake up politicians if you want to keep your cushy jobs, we dare you to live like the average American that you supposedly serve instead of your buddies in office.

Schools can earn more money through the federal government, profits from field trips, fees on books, smart cards, uniforms, and other numerous activities that generate profit. The police, fire and solid waste departments only depend on budget money.
