Murfreesboro among the 12 fastest-growing cities in the country, according to a recent posting on the msn.com website.

One of 15 fast-growing cities across the country, Murfreesboro came in at Number 12, beating out communities like Denton, Texas, Henderson, Nev. and Irvine, Calif.

To see the story, access www.msn.com, find What is America’s Fastest-Growing City? from the rotating menu at the top of the page and access the link see other 14 boom cities. From the arrows near the top of the page, click through to No. 12 to find Murfreesboro.

“Murfreesboro, the fastest-growing major city in the state, can no longer be considered a bedroom community of Nashville, about 35 miles (to the northwest),” the website states. “One reason people are coming is access: Interstate 24 runs directly through the city, and interstates 65 and 40 are just a few minutes away.

“But other draws in the past several years are also keeping them closer to home, the text continues. “The city has become the shopping hub for a 10-county region. Commercial and industrial development boomed, bringing jobs. And a number of colleges and universities are either in or around Murfreesboro: Middle Tennessee State University, which has nearly 22,000 students (the number is actually nearer 24,000), and the Tennessee Technology Center are there. Motlow State Community College, Vanderbilt University and David Lipscomb University are just a few minutes away.”

MSN has recognized what Murfreesboro citizens have always known: Murfreesboro is a great place to live, play and work.
