After 11 days off the football field, Middle Tennessee returned to practice on Wednesday to begin preparing for the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 20. Kickoff at the Superdome against Southern Miss is schedule for 7:30 PM and the game will be shown on ESPN.

The Blue Raiders practiced 16 periods inside Floyd Stadium under cold and windy conditions. Temperatures were in the mid 30s with 13 MPH winds.

Despite the weather, Middle Tennessee had a very enthusiastic and upbeat practice as the entire team appeared more than ready to get back to work.

"The guys really looked fresh, practiced fast, and were in a good frame of mind," said Head Coach Rick Stockstill. "We have not had a full week off all year and it really showed today because the guys were jumping around pretty well."

The team will practice the next six days before leaving for New Orleans next Wednesday. The upcoming practices will be a little more physical than when the team arrives in the Big Easy.

"We will do most of our hitting the next few days," said Stockstill. "The practices will be a little different than the regular season. Prior to our last game against Monroe we did not put the pads on one day so we plan to get back to more contact work."
