| Blue Raider golf makes a move on day two |

RANCHO SANTE FE, Calif. - Middle Tennessee shot a 1-under par 287 on moving day to get within one shot of fifth place after 36 holes of the San Diego Regional on Friday. The Blue Raiders are in seventh place but in great shape to grab a top five and head to a second National Championship appearance.
Southern Cal remained in the lead with a 290 and stand 8-under par which is just four strokes better than second place UCLA. Ohio State moved all the way to third placed with a 9-under par round and SMU is in fourth at 7-over par. Host San Diego and Texas are tied for fifth at 8-over par with the Blue Raiders next in line at 9-over par.
"I am proud of the way our guys responded today," said Head Coach Whit Turnbow. "They have battled and put themselves in position, which is exactly where you want to be. They are excited about the final round and can't wait to get started. It should be an exciting day."
As has been the case all year, senior Jason Millard was the story for the Blue Raiders. The Murfreesboro native carded a 3-under par 69 to run his streak to 12 straight tournaments with at least one round in the 60s. Millard is tied for third overall.
Freshman Brett Patterson (McMinnville) enjoyed another impressive day in his first NCAA appearance with a 2-under par 70. Patterson is tied for fifth overall.
Junior Hunter Green bounced back on Friday and showed his all-conference ability with a 1-under par 71. Green is tied for 41st after recording three birdies in the second round.
Freshman Paul Sansom is tied for 66th, while Brad Simons is 70th.
Saturday's final round will begin at 9:30 AM Central with groups teeing off from both the 1st and 10th holes. Following the completion of Saturday's final round of the 54-hole regional, the top five teams and top five individuals not part of those top 5 finishing teams will advance to Nationals.
