Soft winds and the threat of rain kept the temperatures down as Saturday kicked off with The Heartless Bastards. I loved this. I have been listening to their latest album "The Mountain" repeatedly for months.

Their performance lacked some heart but still rocked.

My day focused on seeing Jenny Lewis (also lead singer for Rilo Kiley), one of my favorites of all time.

Sitting on a blanket, I heard the remainder of Heartless Bastards' set and stayed to catch some of Booker T & the DBT's (Drive-By Truckers).

I didn't think I knew any of the legendary Booker T's songs, but I think everyone has heard "Green Onions," a bluesy hit.

The set also included tunes from Drive-By Truckers including of my favorites "Home Field Advantage" sang by bassist Shonna Tucker.

After walking around the festival grounds in a Saturday haze,it was time to get a spot to see Jenny Lewis.

Lewis is one of the best singers I have heard live. Her voice is as crystal clear as on her albums. She exudes confidence on stage as she plays bluesy, gospel and pop-style songs.

If you have never heard, I highly recommend.

A crush of fans danced and sang along.

Her set included several songs from her two solo albums, as well as "Silver Lining" from Rilo Kiley, and a new song "Big Wave."

Elvis Costello, who followed with a solo set, took the stage with Lewis to sing their song "Carpetbaggers." The audience was thrilled.

Having met up with some other Post staffers, I sat and relaxed and listened to some of Costello's set before moving on to The Decemberists.

Couldn't hear much of their set, but as we waiting for the band to take the stage we heard The Mars Volta set fire to the Which stage. They are definitely a band I plan to check out.

Then it hit me. There is something glorious about Bonnaroo. My Sunday feature story on Bonnaroo speaks of this.

When the conditions are right, it just hits you. You realize the amount of music (and love of music) there is to share during the four-day festival.

Music fans from all across the globe get to spend a long weekend together experiencing almost every type of music — if you have the energy.

Wow!
