MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Police were recently called to a Masterpiece Avenue residence after two sisters became embroiled in a fight when one of them refused to go to a party because she did not like her outfit.
The bizarre event unfolded Jan. 4 in the 1900 block of Masterpiece Avenue, all while three young children were watching, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report.
“(The younger sister) stated she had told her sister that she was not going to the party, so (the older sister) punched her in the mouth twice,” according to the report released Monday.
When officers talked with the 35-year-old older sister, she insisted that her sister had cussed in front of her children. In response, the woman told officers that she only covered her sister’s mouth with her hand, nothing more.
The older sister then explained that her sister proceeded to throw “a tantrum about her outfit” and refused to leave for the party. After deciding to go to the party anyways, the woman and her children got in the car to leave but were followed by her 33-year-old sister.
“(The older sister) stated that (her sister) reached into the driver’s side window and pulled her hair,” officers reported, adding as she attempted to drive away, the woman accidently hit her younger sister with the car just moments before police arrived at the scene.
Despite the turn of events, police were unable to determine a primary aggressor and neither woman is facing any charges in connection with the incident. However, both were advised to separate for the night until cooler heads prevailed.
