A Murfreesboro man was recently arrested on suspicion of attacking his boyfriend for reportedly getting a haircut by an attractive male cosmetologist.
The 32-year-old man is accused of assaulting his partner during an Aug. 10 argument at their shared East Main Street apartment, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department report filed by Officer Vywathana Phothirath.
“(The victim) said (his boyfriend) got jealous because he got his haircut by another man last night,” Phothirath said in the report. “(The victim) told him to leave, but (the man) got in his face and then head-butted him.”
The alleged attacker then put the victim “in a choke hold for a brief moment” before walking out of the apartment, only to return a few minutes later to find the door locked.
“(The man) attempted to enter the residence through a back window by kicking and breaking it ...” Phothirath said. “So he pepper-sprayed him when (his boyfriend) kicked in the window.”
When Phothirath spoke to the aggressor, he insisted that his boyfriend, identified as the victim by police, had been flirting with the cosmetologist.
“(The man) advised he only kicked in the window in an attempt to go back inside to get his belongings,” Phothirath said, noting the man also suffered some injuries during the altercation.
Even so, police determined he acted as the primary aggressor of the argument. The man was arrested shortly after being treated for minor injuries at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
