An unknown number of suspects spray painted several numbers and drew a sexually explicit picture Monday night on equipment at the site of a new apartment complex that has received flack from nearby residents.

“I was dispatched to the corner of Pillar Drive and Covenant Boulevard to a construction for vandalism,” Officer Pam Crabtree reported in a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report.

When Crabtree arrived at the scene, the owner of Earth Solutions said he believed the vandalism occurred some time after 3 p.m.

“(The man) stated that when they arrived to the job site this morning, three of the construction equipment had been spray painted with numbers 420 and then a penis was drawn after the numbers.”

Based on the color of the paint, the man said he believed it was the same cans that had been left in a nearby drum the day before.

Crabtree reported that she was unable to find any witnesses who could have possibly identified the suspects, but she noted that the owner said tensions had flared recently over the project.

“(He) stated that the people in the area of this construction site were ‘fighting mad’ about this ground breaking,” Crabtree reported, “because apartments are going there.”
