An unidentified man became so outraged Monday when he was not allowed to clean the windows of a Murfreesboro restaurant that he jumped on top of the counter and started attacking the manager.
The incident occurred inside Jet’s Pizza just before noon in the 3000 block of Memorial Boulevard, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report.
When police responded to the scene shortly after the man left the area, they found the bewildered manager nursing a minor injury on his right arm.
“Upon my arrival, I spoke to the general manager who stated a man that appeared to be homeless came into the business,” Officer Angela Alexander reported. “He stated (the man) was an older white male with crooked teeth, dark brown hair and a (long) beard with white on the tip of it.”
The manager said he thought the man was homeless because he was wearing a tattered red shirt and blue jeans.
“(The manager) stated the subject came in asking to wash the windows, and when he told him no, the subject started yelling and screaming at him,” Alexander reported. “He even jumped on the counter and started kicking at him … the subject started to walk out but came back (and) jumped on the counter again and threw a mat at him.”
Fearing for his safety, the manager grabbed a pizza knife to defend himself from the man.
“Once the subject noticed the knife he left,” Alexander reported. “As he left, he stated he would come back and shoot him.”
The man then fled the scene in a silver Ford Focus with a white female, Alexander reported.
