The following "bizarre" report was on file last week with Murfreesboro Police.
Police are continuing their investigation into who would have keyed the word "stoopid" onto a woman's vehicle that was parked outside of her Chopin Court North home in Murfreesboro.
The 35-year-old woman told officers she noticed on July 21 just before noon that an unidentified suspect had vandalized her SUV at some point after 4 p.m. the day before, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department incident report.
"She observed her 2006 Ford Expedition had been keyed on the entire driver's side and that the word 'stupid' had been carved into the paint on the rear quarter panel," Officer Daniel Love reported, "but that is was spelled incorrectly."
When asked if she had seen anyone near her home the night before, the woman said she had not noticed any strangers. In addition, she said her neighbors did not see what had happened, nor could they think of any person who would have done such a thing.
"However, the woman stated there has been an on-going issue in the neighborhood with vandalism," Love reported.
Due to the size of the area vandalized, the vehicle sustained more than $500 in damages – an amount that could land the perpetrator into a heap of trouble.
