The following “bizarre” reports were on file Thursday with Murfreesboro Police.

On Monday, police arrested a homeless woman on suspicion of lying after she allegedly reported being stabbed by her ex-girlfriend so that she could have a free place to sleep.

The 27-year-old Kentucky native has since been charged with filing a false report, according to a Murfreesboro Police Department arrest report.

“The woman stated that on April 12, she was walking in the Wal-Mart parking lot when her ex-girlfriend approached her and started stabbing her with a knife,” Detective Tannas Knox reported. “The (woman) had injury to her shoulders, stomach and legs, requiring staples in (one) leg.”

Upon further investigation, detectives realized the woman was not telling the truth.

“She made this story up,” Knox reported. “She advised that she stabbed herself so that she could get a free place to stay at the domestic violence shelter.”

The woman was then placed into custody and transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, where she is being held on a $2,500 bond. A preliminary hearing in the case has not yet been scheduled.
