The following “bizarre” report was on file last week at Murfreesboro Police Department.

Pamela La Fever, 39, and Samantha Briggs, 25, both of Woodbury, were charged with public intoxication after Officers Stephen McGowan and Anthony Skok found them sitting in a vehicle and drinking from a bottle of tequila Christmas Eve on South Church Street.

“The two were yelling and screaming, ‘Happy New Years,’” McGowan reported.

They asked the women to exit the vehicle and found they were both unsteady on their feet. They were arrested. Once inside the patrol cruiser, McGowan accused LaFever of kicking the window. She spit in McGowan’s face. He filed an additional charge of assault.

Officer McGowan has a lot of patience. It's good for the women that he was in uniform.

People should know better than to act a fool once arrested. Spitting in a cops face is just nasty and pathetic! Would she spit in his face if he was trying to save her from an overturned car after she had an accident caused by drinking? I was taught after being blue lighted to pull over in a safe place, turn the ignition off, place the keys on the dash, turn on the overhead light, and keep my hands on the wheel while having my license ready. You don't reach back for anything until the officer tells you to. I have been arrested before and I kept my mouth shut in the back seat and cooperated. It's a lot better and less charges. Thank god I was never arrested for a DUI. I never have driven while drunk. That's just foolish. Happy New year everyone!
