The following “bizarre” report was on file last week with Murfreesboro Police Department.

Officer Tim Jensen responded to a burglary of Chris Nwokoji’s apartment on Crossway Avenue. While inside the apartment, Jensen noticed a black handgun hidden inside an open shoebox.

For safety reasons, Nwokoji agreed to allow Jensen to secure the weapon.

During a conversation, Nwokoji told Jensen he bought the .45-caliber handgun from a kid on a bicycle. When Jensen checked, he learned the handgun was stolen.

Jensen charged Nwokoji with theft of property. A hearing is set Feb. 9 in General Sessions Court.
