Bill Taylor, founder of Murfreesboro’s first and largest martial arts school is supporting the American Red Cross by donating to the Red Cross’ Japanese Disaster Relief Fund and using his Bushido Schools of Karate as locations where local citizens can drop off donations to the American Red Cross beginning immediately.

“Many have asked how they can help the country of Japan during this unimaginable tragedy, so we decided to not only donate but to coordinate directly with the Red Cross to be a drop off location for citizens to help the Japanese people,” Taylor said. “This situation is near and dear to me because Wado Ryu Karate was developed in Japan, I trained in Japan and the Wado Ryu sanctioning organization is located in Japan. Immediately after the tragedy I called to make sure all of our Wado Ryu people were okay and fortunately they survived the earthquake and tsunami.”

Donations should be checks only and made out to the American Red Cross and please write “Japan” in the bottom left corner of the check.

No clothing or food donations are accepted. Donations can be dropped off at:

1820 NW Broad Street or 1911 Business Campus Drive (just off S. Church St.) locations.
