Bible Park USA is going to I-40 site near Lebanon

TMP Reports

In a Thursday afternoon press conference, California-based Entertainment Development Group announced plans to make Lebanon the future site of Bible Park USA, the Wilson County Post reported.

The company announced its intention to purchase 113 acres north of Interstate 40, between the Murfreesboro and Watertown exits for the park. The property’s sale is contingent on project approval by the Lebanon and Wilson County governments.

Bible Park USA, a $175 million-200 million, 282-acre biblically themed park in Blackman Community, was rejected in May by the Rutherford County Commission after a contentious debate that left many in the Blackman community fuming.

Approval required a two-thirds majority vote after a valid petition was submitted to the Rutherford County Regional Planning Commission. The vote fell two votes short of the 14 needed with 12 voting in favor and nine voting against.

Rutherford County is currently in the middle of a court case, which will be heard Oct. 1, with the Shelton family about the Bible Park USA zoning.
