Officials with the Bible Park USA will be on hand in Wilson County Friday for a specially called meeting of the Wilson County/Lebanon Development Board. Armon Bar-Tur, developer of the Bible Park USA, said he is pleased at the degree of interest shown by Lebanon and Wilson County officials in the Bible Park USA.

“Mayor Fox invited us in to hear from the economic development leaders from the both Wilson County and Lebanon, and we look forward to the meeting tomorrow,” said Bar-Tur.

“The meeting tomorrow gives us a chance to tell Mr. Bar-Tur how excited we are about the possibility of being chosen as the site for this major tourist attraction,” said Lebanon Mayor Don Fox. “Being able to attract a $200 million attraction right here to add to our tax base and build our tourism market is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We want to do everything we can to be the chosen site for the Bible Park USA project.”

Bar-Tur said he will be ready to announce a decision about a site for the Park soon.

GOOD RIDDENCE!

Now we shall be free of this boondoggle, & the brainless chatter of it's proponents!

I'm just waiting to hear what enticements they get offered this time.

Hey...I thought this was the Murfreesboro Post? Guess we'll have to hear about the Bible Park woes of Lebanon too. :-)

I don't get why the lot of you don't pull your addle brains together and instead figure out ways to bolster the economy with the recession looming above all of us, instead of all these childish reactions to an article.

Is anyone aware the government predicts 3 million foreclosures in the next year alone? Does anyone consider how secure their own homes and jobs are, or their neighbors for that matter? Did anyone just read RC unemployment rate is the highest since 1990?

Don't underestimate your Lebanon neighbors. They know a good proposal when they see it. Do you think the young Blackman families and Rutherford County schools are not going to visit the Bible Park in Lebanon when it opens, feeding the economy in Lebanon while ya'll flounder here? You got another laugh coming.

Geana, I can assure you that this family in the Blackman community will NOT be clamoring to enter the gates of BPUSA. And I seriously doubt that BPUSA will be the destination for a field trip with Rutherford County students. Separation of church and state, remember? Bless your heart.

Geana, Please. The BPUSA in Murfreesboro was never going to be a big boon for the economy. As for jobs, it would have provided a few minimum wage positions for teens and possibly a few administrative and maintenance positions.

As for it's impact on the broader economy. Hogwash. If people can't pay their mortgage, they certainly are not going to spend a dime to enter the gates of BPUSA.

If amusement parks were such a great profit generator, then why are they not springing up every where like Pharmacy's.

God Bless the citizens of Wilson County. I only jope their elected officials listen toi them better than our commissioners did in Rutherford. I am county the days until the elections here.

Those that failed to listen before will certainly here us this time!!!!!!!!

The Bible Park is gone! Could we just shut this door and put a lock on it?

"Separation of church and state, remember? Bless your heart."

Separation of church and state? In Tennessee? In the Bible Belt? haha When the day comes that church groups are banned from holding their meetings and functions in schools off hours, I'll believe it. What about all the private Christian schools? What separation is there?

"As for jobs, it would have provided a few minimum wage positions for teens and possibly a few administrative and maintenance positions."

The way the economy is going and the rate jobs are disappearing, it's more likely that adults would be applying for the positions while simultaneously recouping the loss of wages -- simply by not having to expend the net income commuting to Smyrna, Lavergne, Antioch, Nashville....

Not to mention that's another area of incentive that could have been bargained for with the developers. For employees to be paid at no less than "national wage scales."

If people can't pay their mortgage, they certainly are not going to spend a dime to enter the gates of BPUSA.
They're certainly not going to enter the gates of any entertainment venues in Murfreesboro or Rutherford either, and what does that do for the economy? Meanwhile... those that can afford their mortgage will continue to venture out of the city and the county to see their entertainment.

"If amusement parks were such a great profit generator, then why are they not springing up every where like Pharmacy's."

Well, gee, perhaps the land size required for an amusement park might have something to do with the number of amusement parks "everywhere?" That doesn't mean an amusement park won't generate profit. Just how many retail shops and churches do we need, anyway?

Separation of church and state does not mean church groups can't meet in schools. It means if you let any church groups meet, you have to let all church groups meet. You can't pick and choose. So if you let the Baptists meet at school, then you have to let the local Wiccans meet there, too.

As for private Christian schools, private IS separate.

And as for the idea that our local leaders would have bargained with the developers for no less than national wage scales, I can only laugh.

#1 they'd never do that.

#2 the developer would never agree (that's why they come places like this--refer to #1).

#3 the national wage scale for part-time amusement park jobs is about $300/week. big deal.

Humor me, more. I'm ahead of you on the "Church and State" as defined by law. The point you're missing is... Christians have and always WILL bend the law to ensure there is no real separation of church and state. That the law says schools can't pick and choose, does not mean that Christians will cannot pick and choose. Schools of all status, private Christian, home-schooled "and" public schools will utilize a Bible Park for both educational and entertainment purposes. Clearly, it remains the choice of the parent whether they want to sign their name on the permission slip.

Private is separate, but Christian is Christian :)

Keep laughing at national wage scales.
1) You don't know "THEY" would never do that
2) Where you get the national wage scale for amusement park jobs, I don't know... but fact is TN's wage scales are below national and will be much less than $300 a week. Small price for a developer to pay if they could ensure national wages, wouldn't you say?

There are plenty of national and even international companies that pay the same wage scale to their employees, regardless of where they reside.
