Betty Mae Garton, age 56, of Smyrna, passed away on March 3, 2010 at her residence. She was a native and life-long resident of Rutherford County. She was a member of Jackson Ridge Community Church.
Betty was preceded in death by grandparents, Albert E. and Leana Mae Graves and Walter and Mattie Covington. She is survived by her parents, Roy and Mattie Lou Covington; husband, David Eugene Garton; son, Robert (Karen) Carter of Lebanon, Tennessee; grandmother, Katherine Graves of Murfreesboro; brother, James (Beverly) Covington of Eagleville, Tennessee; sisters, Judy (Ronnie) Stanley of Rockvale and Lois (David) Henderson of Smyrna; and two grandchildren, Darby and Shaina Carter.
Graveside service for Betty will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Ross Family Cemetery with Ken Sharp officiating. Nephews and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home, 820 S. Church St., Murfreesboro, TN 37130. (615) 893-2422 www.jenningsandayers.com
