Betty Jennings Stephens, age 85, passed away on January 3, 2010 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Willing Workers Class, the Adventures Class and the Wesleyan Fellowship Group.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Thomas N. Stanford in 1944 and Sam C. Stephens Jr. of 53 years who passed away in 1999, parents; John Favor and Ada Pearcy Jennings, brother, Pearcy Jennings and sister, Martha Lynn Florida Allen. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Gail Stephens and Jimmy Lewis, grandchildren; Stephanie (Jim) Thompson and Jennifer (Jeff) Poland and great-grandchildren; Henry Cooper Thompson and Taylor Benjamin Poland.

Services for Betty will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Tommy Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Andy Soaps, Randy Johnson, Matt Henderson, Ebby Miller, Jeff Poland and Jim Thompson serving as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be from noon until service time on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel; 820 South Church St. Murfreesboro, TN 37130. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
