MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Bed, Bath and Beyond has relocated to The Avenue Murfreesboro from its longtime location in The Oaks shopping center off North Thompson Lane.
The nationwide retailer is now located next to Dick’s Sporting Goods in The Avenue on Medical Center Parkway, just about a mile north of its former home.
“At Bed, Bath and Beyond, we are committed to providing exceptional customer service, a broad and deep assortment of products, and a great value to our customers,” said Steven Temares, chief executive officer of Bed, Bath and Beyond Inc.
“We look forward to continuing these traditions in our new Murfreesboro store,” he said in a press release Wednesday.
Officials said the store is still open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The new spot is the former home of competitor Linens and More, which closed its Murfreesboro location in the spring of 2013.
Although company officials did not elaborate on what factors prompted the move, it appears to be an attempt to block competitors from taking advantage of the popularity of The Avenue, as well as its proximity to the interstate and hotels.
Considered by many soon-to-be brides as a great store for a wedding registry, the company offers a variety of goods.
Bed, Bath and Beyond, which is based out of New Jersey, was founded in 1971 by Leonard Feinstein and Warren Eisenberg.
In 1985, after enjoying solid success and gaining ground in the market, company officials introduced the superstore format with the opening of their first store carrying a full line of domestic and home furnishing merchandise.
Since then, Bed, Bath and Beyond, has grown into a nationwide retailer with more than 1,000 stores that are located throughout the United States.
